Traditional Chinese Veterinary Medicine

TCVM encompasses acupuncture and Chinese herbals.  The goal of TCVM is to bring the body into energetic balance so that it can heal itself.  Acupuncture (the use of needles to stimulate specific energy points in the body) has been shown to increase the body’s natural pain relievers (enkephalins and endorphins), increase blood flow, and speed healing for both orthopedic and neurologic diseases.  It has also been used successfully to treat a multitude of internal medicine diseases.
Dr. Rosado was certified in veterinary acupuncture by the Chi Institute in Reddick, FLand the China National Society of TCVM in 2006 after 130 hours of training and completing a 40-hour externship with a certified veterinary acupuncturist at the University of Florida, College of Veterinary Medicine.  In cases where herbals might be helpful, she works closely with certified veterinary herbologists to choose the best herbal combinations for her patients.  Dr. Rosado has experience in treating a variety of conditions using acupuncture and herbals including neurologic disease, orthopedic disease, diabetes, Cushing’s disease, cancer, kidney and
liver failure, and gastrointestinal disorders.  She has successfully treated horses, dogs, and cats with a variety of conditions using TCVM.

Cold Laser Therapy

FIVC is excited to offer its patients the healing effects of cold laser therapy.  With the addition of a Class IV therapy laser, FIVC can treat many conditions, including those in horses, that could not be treated effectively with less powerful (Class III) lasers.

Laser light, at specific wavelengths and frequencies,  works by increasing blood flow to damaged tissues, stimulating the release of endorphins (the body’s natural pain medicine), and increasing the energy production of damaged cells, thereby speeding healing times cell by cell.  It can be used to treat a variety of conditions by reducing pain, swelling, and inflammation.  It is ideal when the use of traditional pain medicines is contra-indicated or undesirable, or when pain medications don’t seem to be enough.  It can also speed the healing of many conditions, including after surgery, to return your pet to normal activity faster.  For more information about cold laser therapy and its benefits, please visit www.CompanionLaserTherapy.com.

Nutrition

Nutrition is one of the most under-utilized modalities in veterinary (and human) medicine.  Each food has its own energetic, nutritional, and medicinal properties.  Foods can be used to help aid the treatment of many diseases.  Nothing is more important to the health of a body than a properly balanced diet.  Likewise, nothing is more dangerous to a pet than a chronically fed unbalanced diet.  Chemical preservatives, pesticides, insecticides and over-processed foods can also cause problems.  Dr. Rosado can help provide nutritional support to optimize your pet’s health.
